1/4/26 God Is Crowning This Year In Goodness

  1. David speaks about Psalm 65:11 being the focus for 2026. What does it mean for a year to be “crowned” with God’s goodness, and how might that shape your outlook for the upcoming year?
  2. How does David define “goodness” according to the Hebrew meaning and biblical context? In what ways does this challenge or deepen your personal understanding of God’s character?
  3. The message emphasizes that we do not go through the year alone but under God’s authority, dignity, honor, and favor. How can this perspective change the way you approach challenges or uncertainties?
  4. David mentions that seasons are more than time periods—they are “God-ordained moments.” Can you share a time when you recognized God working in a particular season of your life?
  5. Why do you think David encourages declaring God’s goodness over your life each morning? How do daily declarations or affirmations influence your faith journey?
  6. The sermon contrasts defining the year by events versus by God’s involvement. How do you tend to measure your years, and what might happen if you began to focus more on God’s presence than circumstances?
  7. David gives a practical example of sharing God’s goodness with others. What are some real-life ways you can share God’s goodness in your community or daily interactions?
  8. How does the concept of God’s goodness being “unsearchable” and “inexhaustible,” as described in Ephesians 3:8, inspire or challenge you personally?
  9. What is the significance of seeing God’s goodness as not just an attribute, but as “who He is,” according to David ?
  10. David mentions that setbacks are “setups for comebacks” and that God works all things for good. How can you apply this truth when facing difficulties or disappointments?

David  [00:00:00]:

Last week we began looking into the meaning of Psalm 65:11 as it relates to our new year, 2026. And as I said last week, a couple of months ago, during my morning devotions, I was reading Psalm 65, and the Lord stopped me at Psalm 65:11, verse 11.

David  [00:00:39]:

And as I read this verse over and over several times, I heard the Lord say, this is your 2026 Focus. This is what I want to bring. He said, this is what I want you to bring to the body of Christ in 2026. Study it, meditate on it, pray over it, and teach it. So we began last week looking into what Psalm 65:11 means for us in this year. God has a lot he wants to do in us, through us, with us, and for us in this coming year. And as we seek him, hearing and studying His Word, he will show us what is to come and where he is taking us. Last week we began by looking into what it means to crown something or someone.

David  [00:01:41]:

What we saw was the word crown means to encircle it, to cover it, to surround it, or wrap it with dignity, honor, and favor. It is a blessing by royalty from the throne. In this case, in this context here, in Psalm 65:11, it’s referring to the place of divine authority, where all authority flows from the highest authority, the throne of God. What we arrived at last week was God’s word to us is, I’m going to encircle, cover, surround, and wrap this year 2026, with my dignity, honor, and favor, day to day, week to week, month to month, from the highest place of authority, the throne of God. I decree this. Then we looked at the meaning of the word year. You crown the year. It simply means the seasons to come.

David  [00:02:59]:

So this is the picture God wants us to see. God crowns our year, January 1st through December 31st. We’re not moving through 2026 on our own. We’re moving through 2026 under the covering of God’s authority, His dignity, his honor, and his favor. I encourage you every morning, get up every day this year and declare, I am moving through today under the covering of my God’s authority, dignity, honor, and favor. Declare that to yourself every day, look for it, walk in it, expect it. We also discussed how you could measure your year by events, things which happened around us or to us. Oracle, we can measure the year by recognizing God’s involvement, He who reigns over every season.

David  [00:04:08]:

We looked at the fact That a season is far more than a period of time on the calendar. A season is a divinely appointed window, a God ordained moment in which he accomplishes specific purposes, his people and in history. As Ecclesiastes 3:1 declares, to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under the heaven. For 2026, God has crowned the year for his intended purpose and plan. And his purpose and plan includes you. God is bringing something of value to us in 2026. God is bringing something of worth to us in this year. God is beginning something new that will impact our destiny moving forward this year and in the years to come.

David  [00:05:13]:

Today we begin to focus on what he has crowned the year with. Psalmist David said in Psalm 65:11, you crown the year with your goodness, with your goodness. Simply put, the definition of good there in the Hebrew is God’s character. His goodness is the full expression of, of who God is. Think about that now. Not a part of him, not one thing or this thing. The full expression of who he is is his goodness. The Psalmist David is saying, God, you crowned the year with the goodness of who you are.

David  [00:06:09]:

Let’s look at the full definition here. In the Hebrew, it says this. His goodness is excellent. It’s excellent in every way. His goodness is distinguished, upright, honorable, good, pleasant and agreeable to the sight, taste and smell, to all the senses. That’s his goodness. Then it goes on to say this. His goodness is rich, valuable, joyful, happy, useful, beneficial.

David  [00:06:46]:

It benefits us. His goodness is prosperity, bounty, a harvest bestowed by God mentally and emotionally by word or message, a word in due season to us. His goodness is creation in any form. It is fruitfulness, productivity. It is wisdom, knowledge and understanding at work. His goodness is all of this and more. It is the unsearchable riches of God. Think about that.

David  [00:07:29]:

Unsearchable. It can’t be searched. His vastness on display. It is the limitless, inexhaustible spiritual blessings and eternal inheritance we receive through faith in Jesus Christ. That’s his goodness. That’s his goodness. That’s his goodness. I’m gonna have the team, we’re gonna work together and prepare a document that here in a few days you’ll be able to download that list all this out so you can look at it every day and declare it over your life and pray over it and get it within you to understand God’s fullness, His goodness on display for you in Ephesians, Paul said it this way.

David  [00:08:27]:

Ephesians 3:8. I’m reading this from the Amplified Classic to Me, though I am the very least of all the saints, God’s consecrated people. This grace, this favor, privilege was granted and graciously entrusted to me to proclaim to the Gentiles the unending, boundless, fathomless, incalculable and endless, exhaustless riches of Christ’s wealth, which no human being could have searched out. God’s goodness. Paul says that sharing the goodness of God with the world is a privilege from God that is surrounded by his dignity, his honor and his favorite. When we share with others, that’s what happens. God’s goodness is shared and we do it under the COVID of his dignity, his honor, his favor. Praise God.

David  [00:09:40]:

Kanye and I were out visiting place here in our area, it’s historic area, and she walked in this little shop and the young girl that worked there just started talking to her and they started sharing together. And the girl started telling her about her and her husband and where they were and what was going on in their life. And Kanye started encouraging her and sharing the goodness of God with her. And she came out of that shop and she was just like walking on clouds. It looked like she was inspired because she had an opportunity to encourage someone by sharing God’s goodness with them. God is crowning 2026 with his fullness so that we can walk in his fullness. And what that is saying is this. If you go back and look at the definition I just gave you of God’s goodness, God is crowning 2026 with his goodness, the fullness of who he is, so that we can walk in his goodness, the fullness of who he is and share it with others.

David  [00:11:01]:

And like Paul, we get to proclaim it. We get to demonstrate it to the world around us. The unending, boundless, fathomless, incalculable, exhaustless grace and riches of Christ Jesus. Wow, what a privilege. Why not honor? That is the goodness and wealth of God which no human being could ever search out. We get to reflect that, we get to share that. We get to represent God’s goodness to the world around us. As I said at the close of last week’s message, I believe 2026 is going to be an Ephesians 320 year.

David  [00:11:49]:

So let me read that verse to you again. Again, this is from the Amplified classic. It’s Ephesians 3, 20 and 21. Now, to him who buy in consequence of the action of his power that is at work within us, is able to carry out his purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that you dare ask or think infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams. To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. So be it. Hallelujah.

David  [00:12:35]:

Hallelujah. Hallelujah. God’s goodness, who he is, his purpose is super, abundantly far, over and above. It’s infinitely beyond that word. Infinite is without limits, boundless, having neither beginning nor end of existence. It always has been and always will be. Infinite in presence, power and wisdom. Around all and in all is God’s goodness.

David  [00:13:19]:

I encourage you to pray and declare that verse over yourself every day. Expect to see his goodness like that. Look for it everywhere you go, everything you do, everyone you engage with. Look for his goodness to be on display because he’s declared and decreed. He’s crowning this year with his goodness. Now let me say this again. God is crowning 2026 with his goodness, His fullness, so that we can walk in the blessing of his fullness, spirit, soul and body, and share it with all of those around us. All of this that I’m sharing with you today is for our good.

David  [00:14:11]:

It is a blessing of good things from the throne of God. Now let’s talk about this. Your year will be defined by his goodness, not by circumstances. While your circumstances may shift, his goodness doesn’t. He is steadfast. He is faithful. He is immovable. You may face battles, but his goodness crowns you.

David  [00:14:48]:

You have his favor, honor and blessing. You are more than a conqueror. You are an overcomer. Romans 8:31 says, what then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Hallelujah. God is for you. God is for you. God is for you. Hallelujah.

David  [00:15:13]:

He upholds you. He fights battles for you. He withstands the enemy. Praise God. Look to him, not to the circumstances around you. His goodness surrounds us and protects us and covers us and wraps us. He is fighting for us. You may experience what looks like a setback, but his goodness covers you in that.

David  [00:15:43]:

As one of my friends likes to say, setbacks are simply setups for comebacks, and we come back greater than before. You may walk through a valley, but his goodness surrounds you. Psalm 23, verse 4, the Passion translation, like the way it translates this, Even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away the fear. I will never be lonely, for you are near. Hallelujah. He has wrapped you in his goodness.

David  [00:16:39]:

His goodness isn’t just a Moment. It’s a mantle. A mantle isn’t about status. It’s about stewardship. You may not feel like every moment is good, but even in the moments that don’t feel good, God is working for your good. Our response is to be faithful. As Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28, we know that all things work together for good to those who love God. Do you love God then? All things.

David  [00:17:20]:

All things are working together for God. For good. God is bringing all things together for your good. His goodness is working in your behalf. Now, not all things are good, but God weaves good out of all things. Hallelujah. God’s goodness. God’s goodness is always more than enough.

David  [00:17:54]:

God’s goodness is not something he gives. As I said before, it is who he is. God’s goodness is a full expression of who he is. His goodness is his demonstration of his love for us. You know, there was a time there when Moses was talking to God on the mountain, and he asked the Lord, I want to know you. I want to know your way. And God said, well, let me read this to you. Exodus 33, 18 and 19 says this.

David  [00:18:38]:

And he said. Moses said, please show me your glory. Then he said, the Lord said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Think about that. God identifies himself, his glory, with his goodness. He said, I’m going to show you all. I am Moses.

David  [00:19:22]:

This is my goodness. His grace, his compassion, flow out of his goodness. So when David says, God crowns the year with his goodness, he says, God, you cover my life with your very nature, your glory, all you are. And that’s true for you and I. Today. God is covering our lives, wrapping our lives, surrounding our lives, encircling our lives with his very nature, who he is. Church. This means your year starts and ends with the goodness of God.

David  [00:20:16]:

Whether you see it or not, this year has been crowned with his glory, his goodness. And it’s all around us. As I said earlier, get up every morning expecting to see God’s goodness on display. No matter what’s going on in your life, no matter how you feel, what’s happening, what’s not happening, get up, declaring, I will see God’s goodness today. Looking for God’s goodness today. I’m expecting God’s goodness today. Get up every morning asking, God, how can I share your goodness with everyone I encounter today? And remember our Father God is asking us, inviting us to partner with him and crowning this year with his goodness. People all around us are hungry for the goodness of God.

David  [00:21:18]:

They may not know it, they may not fully understand it, but they’re hungry for the goodness of God. And whether they understand it or not, it is the one thing that will make the biggest difference in their life. And you and I, as members of the body of Christ, Christ, as citizens of the kingdom of God, have the privilege and honor of sharing God’s goodness with them this year. As Paul said in Ephesians 3:8, we have the honor and privilege to take God’s goodness to the world and see lives transformed. We are Christ ambassadors. We are here representing the kingdom of God, working together with him to see his kingdom come every day. And in the process of touching lives around us and seeing transformation work in them, we’re transformed also. We’re changed more and more and more into the goodness, the glory of God.

David  [00:22:40]:

Guys, this is just the beginning. This is just the beginning. We’ve got so much more to look at in this verse, but I want to encourage you today with this. God’s goodness is being poured out this year all around you. And God wants to empower you with his goodness so you can share his goodness with those all around you. Praise God. What a privilege and honor to partner with, to serve with our Father God. Hallelujah.

David  [00:23:19]:

Let’s bow our head in prayer. Father, we thank you today for your goodness. We thank you for your dignity, your honor, your favor, your love, your compassion. And Father, thank you that you desire to pour out the fullness of who you are this year through us so that the world can be touched and transformed. Father, we know that there’s a move of God in the earth this year and you desire to demonstrate your goodness in every way through all of us. Hallelujah, Father. And we want to be in alignment with you and partner with you and walk with you and see all of your goodness, all of your fullness. Come forth.

David  [00:24:13]:

Father. God, this year lives be changed and transformed and people come to know you, Lord, and come into relationship with you. Thank you for giving us insight, wisdom, revelation into who you are and how you desire to work with us, in us, through us and for us. We yield ourselves to you, Father, and surrender ourselves to you. Order our steps in line with you and your purpose, your plan this year in Jesus name, so be it. Hallelujah. Pastor Kanye is coming now with a closing thought and a prayer. God bless you.

David  [00:25:01]:

Go out there and look for his goodness this week.
