  1. How did David’s experiences in Paducah, Kentucky, impact his understanding of being chosen by God?
  2. What does it mean to you that God “chose you before the foundation of the world,” as highlighted in Ephesians 1:3-4?
  3. Why do you think the theme of being “chosen” is so central in this message?
  4. How do you interpret the difference between God being “for you,” “with you,” “in you,” and “flowing through you”? Which resonates with you most?
  5. David shared NASA’s creativity study with 5-year-olds. How does this research relate to the spiritual message of the sermon?
  6. What do you think are some reasons why people lose touch with their creativity or sense of being “chosen” as they grow older?
  7. How can believers practically “broadcast God’s glorious wonders throughout the world” in today’s digital age, according to the message?
  8. How does understanding that God ‘empowers you’ and ‘teaches you to profit’ (Isaiah 48:17) shape your view of work and purpose?
  9. What are some practical ways to “wake up” the gifts and callings that God has placed within you, as encouraged by David?
  10. The message ends with an encouragement not to give up. What are some obstacles that make people want to give up, and how can the truths from this message help them press on?

David  [00:00:00]:

Welcome, everyone. It’s middle of July, and I know it’s warm here in Tennessee, where we live. And I hope you’re having great weather where you are. We’re enjoying our summer, praise God. It’s a blessed time, and we’re glad to be here with you today.

David  [00:00:34]:

You know, a couple weeks ago, I began sharing with you about when Kania and I were in Paducah, Kentucky, how the Lord spoke to me as she got up to prepare to get ready to go to the session, the morning session. I had a few minutes, so I rolled back over to sleep just a little longer, take a nap. And as I dozed off, there I was in heaven, standing on the main street in heaven. My great grandfather walked up to me and talked to me, and then my great great grandfather walked up to me and talked to me and, wow, that’s the first time the Lord’s ever shared with me like that or shown me anything like that. And that was powerful. What a great time. And so the interesting thing that happened is the very next morning of that week, as we’re there the next morning, same thing. Connie gets up early to get ready, and I roll back over to doze off to sleep just a little longer.

David  [00:01:42]:

And as I rolled over, there I was in heaven again. But this time, the Lord himself was standing before me. Father God was standing there and he looked at me and he pointed his finger at me and said, I choose you. I choose you. I choose you. And then I woke up and I was like, lord, wow, what does this mean? And he reminded me of a verse in Ephesians where he said, before the foundation of the world, before time began, I chose you. He chose all of us. He saw us before time began.

David  [00:02:53]:

We’ll look at that more in a moment. But he also brought me back to this John 10:10, the Amplified classic, where Jesus said, the thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and enjoy life and have it in abundance to the full, till it overflows. The Lord reminded me again, the Lord said to me, the enemy is doing whatever he can to cause you to doubt your calling and anointing and your place in my kingdom. It reminded me of a time when I was working with a gentleman by the name of David Vancouvering. David was one of a small circle of men, two significant men who founded the electronic music industry. He and Bob Moog worked together. Bob created the first synthesizer that was ever known.

David  [00:04:15]:

And David is the person that took it to the world and taught people how to use it. And I had the privilege and honor of working with David. One day we were working together and we were at a conference. He had created a new touchscreen computer based keyboard that you could use it, people could use to teach on it, they could use to compose on it, they could do all kind of things. And he had asked me to come work with him and go to these music conferences and conventions. We were at a music educators convention and help demonstrate this instrument to people so they could see how they could use it and their area of focus. And as we were leaving the event that day, we were walking through the parking garage back to our car and David and I were talking and he was excited about what people were saying and the feedback he was getting and everything. And I stopped him and I looked at him and I said, david, why me? Why did you pick me? Of all the people you know in the world, why me? He smiled and looked back at me and said, why not you? Wow, man, that struck me.

David  [00:06:10]:

And that’s Father God’s message to you. You may think, God, why would you choose me? He would say, why not you? I love you. I chose you. I created you. I put everything within you. You need to be who I created you to be. Ephesians 1:3 4. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.

David  [00:07:03]:

That word chose means God choosing those he set apart as dear unto Himself. Every believer, everyone who comes to Christ God sees as dear unto Himself and those he has rendered through their faith in Christ as citizens in the messianic kingdom. Wow. God chose you. He set you apart as dear unto Himself. In fact, all of humanity he loves and he cares about. But when they receive him and receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior, you enter into a place of true fellowship with him. First Peter 2:9.

David  [00:08:10]:

This is from the Passion translation. I love the way this says this, but you are God’s chosen treasure priests who are kings. A spiritual nation set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light. And now he claims you as his very own. He did this that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

David  [00:08:56]:

You are God’s chosen treasure. You are set apart as a devoted one. He claims you as his very own so that you could join with him and broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. Chosen here in this verse means picked out by God. You’ve been picked out by God. Your choice. Select the best of its kind. He has empowered you and placed within you excellence.

David  [00:09:50]:

And you are preeminent in his creation. You are chosen. This is how God sees you. Don’t allow the devil to convince you that you are less than in any way. You are dear to him. You are holy. You are without blame. You are a priest and a king in his kingdom.

David  [00:10:25]:

He claims you was his very own. You have the privilege and honor of partnering with him to broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. You know what? We can do that today easily because of the Internet, YouTube and Zoom and all the other things that are out there. You can just get online and people all over the world can see you and hear from you and hear your story. The Lord is saying this to you. He wants you to know, I believe in you. I have a plan and a purpose for you. God created you.

David  [00:11:15]:

God knows what he has placed within you. You have everything, everything you need within you to fulfill his purpose and his plan for you. I’ve shared this before, but there were a group of scientists at NASA had assigned a task of figuring out who the most creative thinkers were among the people. They were looking to be astronauts and how this was how this happened. And so as they studied creative thinking and creativity as it worked in people, they decided to do a study and find out how we as children were rated creatively. And so they took 1500, 1500 five year olds and they tested them and 98% of them tested as creative geniuses. Think about that. 98% of the 1500 tested as creative geniuses.

David  [00:12:32]:

All of them tested high in creative creativity. They all tested high creatively. But 98% tested as creative geniuses. So they waited five years. They took the same 1500 kids and tested them again. At 10 years old, 50% of them tested as creative geniuses. So they waited again five years and and tested the same 1500 kids. At 15 years old, 30% of them tested as creative geniuses.

David  [00:13:14]:

They waited five more years. Then at 20 years old, they tested the same 1500 and only 2% of them tested as creative geniuses. And what they came to was this, that creativity is taught out of us. But the other thing they discovered was this. The five year old genius was still within that 20 year old. He simply needed to be awakened. We all have within us everything God put within us. To full fill his purpose and plan.

David  [00:14:09]:

Many times all it takes is it needs to be reawakened. That’s why we study the Word. That’s why we get into the Word. That’s why we renew our minds. God has put it in there. We just need to wake it up. Jeremiah 29:11 this is from the NIV I know you’re familiar with this verse. It says, for I know the plans I have for you, declares the lord.

David  [00:14:37]:

Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future. Plans to give you hope and a future. God has plans for you, a purpose for you, a place for you. God has a position for you. God has a people for you to connect with and touch and influence. God wants you to know he chose you and he is with you. Deuteronomy 31:6 in the NIV says this be strong and courageous.

David  [00:15:23]:

Do not be afraid or terrified because of them. For the LORD your God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. You are not on your own. You were God’s representative here on the earth. You were God’s partner here on the earth. You carry God’s authority, power and influence here on the earth. God is with you.

David  [00:16:01]:

He chose you. God always also says this. He wants you to know this, I am for you. Psalm 32:8 the Amplified classic I the LORD will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Think about that. God says, hey, come to me. I’ll teach you.

David  [00:16:39]:

I’ll instruct you, I’ll show you the way. God will draw out of you what he has placed within you. Impartation unlocks the flow that is available within you. When God imparts something to you, it unlocks what is in there. God will give you his wisdom, his revelation, his insight and his understanding for every situation you face, if you seek him for it. God is for you. He is with you, and he is for you. He also said to let you know this, I am in you.

David  [00:17:35]:

I am is for you, with you, and in you. Acts 17:28 New King James Version for in him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said. For we are also his offspring. We are his children, his sons, his daughters. We have God’s DNA within us. Hallelujah. When we come into Christ, we’re recreated and made. New creations in God’s DNA comes within us.

David  [00:18:20]:

Galatians 3:26 27 in the passion Translation says it this way. You have all become children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Faith immersed you into Christ, and now you are covered and clothed with his life. You have it all. God isn’t holding anything back. 2nd Corinthians 5:17 in the passion Translation says it this way. Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished.

David  [00:19:06]:

Behold, everything is fresh and new. You are in Christ, you are fresh. You are new. That old person is gone. Let go of him. Next, the Lord says this. I flow through you. God is for you.

David  [00:19:35]:

He’s with you. He’s in you, and he flows through you. Ephesians 3:20 in the Amplified Classic. You’ve heard me read this many times now. To him who by, in consequence of the action of his power that is at work within us, is able to carry out his purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think, think infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams. Now, I want to read that again, but I want to read it from the Passion translation. Here’s Ephesians 3:20 in the passion translation. Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all his will.

David  [00:20:27]:

He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination. He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you. Wow. Wow. That says it all. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

David  [00:20:59]:

God is with us. God is for us. God is in us. And God is flowing through us to accomplish his plan and purpose with us. Hallelujah. The next thing the Lord said to remind you of is when he chose you, he empowered you. He empowers you. Isaiah 48:17 in the New King James Version says, thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way.

David  [00:21:40]:

You should go. Now, let me give you a little insight into this verse. That word prophet there means this. So God is teaching us to profit. It means to ascend. It means to be valuable. It means to bring value, means to be useful. It means to set forward, to start or move something ahead.

David  [00:22:10]:

It means to present or propose an idea or a place plan. It means to be profitable or to have profit. Not only does he teach you, he also gives you the strategy, the plan, the way forward. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I encourage you to go back and listen to this study, this verse. God wants to do all that.

David  [00:22:39]:

He is doing all that we. Wants to do all that in us and to us and for us and with us. Deuteronomy 8:18 in the NIV says this. But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth and so confirms his covenant which he swore to your ancestors as it is this day. Produce means he gives you the strength, the power, the might. He gives you the ability of strength, power and might to create wealth and wealth. There means wealth in every way. It means goods, resources, riches, power, strength.

David  [00:23:30]:

God is saying, follow me, trust me, and I will give you the ability, the strength, the power, the might to create, to have, to make, to possess in every way. Goods, resources and riches, power and strength. Wow. God is not withholding anything from you. All that he is, he has put within you and it’s there available for us. He chose you. Whatever you need, a wealth of God has for you. You see, there is no need in Christ.

David  [00:24:17]:

He is the source and supply of everything needed in every area of life. You are in Christ, so you have the flow of provision available to you every day. All that holds it back is you. It’s us. It’s our thinking. God has given us the ability to produce wealth and he promises us he will teach us how to use that ability. You have everything you need to be who God created you to be. As you continue to seek him, he will impart to you his wisdom to use all he has given you to fulfill your purpose.

David  [00:25:06]:

Don’t give up, don’t give in. Don’t throw in the towel. Don’t quit. Keep pressing in to know Him. Keep pressing on to obtain all he has for you. Keep pressing through to overcome so you can press out to the world and broadcast its glorious wonders to everyone. God chose you before time began. He chooses you every day.

David  [00:25:42]:

So be bold, be strong, be courageous. For the Lord is saying, I choose you. Let’s bow our heads in prayer. Father, we thank you for your goodness. We thank you for your blessing. We thank you for your unfathomable love. Father, it’s infinite. It can’t be measured.

David  [00:26:09]:

Thank you, Lord, for empowering us to be all that you created us to be. And Father, I ask Lord Jesus, that you give us all the eyes to see, the ears to hear, and the heart to understand this truth so that we don’t let the enemy rob us of all that Jesus came to give us in life so that we can go forth and be who you called us to be. So we can fulfill your will and your purpose and your plan for us. As you said Jeremiah 29:11, that purpose and plan, that place, that position, the people you have for us to touch. Thank you Lord. Thank you for doing this in us and calling us to walk with you and partner with you. God, we commit ourselves to you right now in Jesus name that we will learn to walk in the fullness of all you have for us us. So we can see your kingdom come and your will be done here in the earth as it is in heaven.

David  [00:27:15]:

Thank you Father. In Jesus name, Amen. Pastor Conia is coming with a closing word and thought. God bless you. Go out and be all God created you to be this week. He chose you. There.
