8/24/25 Rejoicing In It: Finding Joy In God’s Day

08/24/2025

  1. The message emphasizes Psalm 118:24— “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” How does understanding this verse as both a daily encouragement and a prophetic statement impact your perspective on each day?
  2. David discusses rejoicing in the past, present, and future. Which of these contexts—celebrating moments gone by, living in the present, or anticipating days ahead—do you find most challenging or inspiring, and why?
  3. The speaker mentions that “rejoicing” is an outward expression of joy, while “being glad” is an inward ongoing state. How do you differentiate between these two in your own life?
  4. According to the message, the phrase “in it” can also mean “in Him,” referring to God. How does this dual meaning shift your understanding of what it means to rejoice and be glad in the day?
  5. The idea of present moment faithfulness is highlighted—rejoicing and being glad even in the midst of challenges. Can you share a time when you chose to rejoice in a difficult situation?
  6. The episode stresses that our joy shouldn’t be rooted in circumstances, but in God’s Word and faithfulness. What practices help you maintain this outlook when things aren’t going well?
  7. How does realizing that God has “pre-appointed days” and purposes for your life (Acts 17:26) affect your daily decisions and attitude?
  8. The story of Smith Wigglesworth dancing before the Lord was shared as an example of starting each day with purposeful joy. What is your version of “starting the day rejoicing”?
  9. David refers to the “day of salvation” as an ongoing reality for believers because of Christ’s resurrection. How do you live in the awareness of this “day of salvation” in your everyday walk of faith?
  10. The buffalo and cow analogy was used to encourage running into challenges with God, rather than away from them. How does this analogy influence how you face difficult circumstances?

David  [00:00:01]:

A couple weeks ago, we began looking into the significance of Psalm 118:24. This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

David  [00:00:42]:

That first session a couple weeks ago, we talked about that. This psalm is a declaration of God’s sovereignty. It’s a call to rejoice in him with purpose. It’s a prophetic, Messianic verse and psalm, and it signifies the rejoicing and being glad daily. Every day should be a day of rejoicing and being glad. Then last week we talked about that we can rejoice and be glad in this day in several different contexts. We can Joyce and rejoice in days gone by like the creation of the world. We could still rejoice in that day.

David  [00:01:36]:

Thank God for that Easter, Christmas, Pentecost Sunday, the day you were saved or the day some family member was saved or someone that’s close to you was saved. That day of salvation or healing and miracles. Whatever God’s done in your life, those are things that we can still rejoice in. Then the next context is today, this day, right now, right where you are, where you’re living and breathing and being. We can rejoice in this day. There’s so many things to rejoice in. And then we can rejoice in the day to come, the day we’re expecting, the day we’re anticipating. Like the day when a birth is going to happen, a child will be born.

David  [00:02:29]:

We can celebrate in that. We can celebrate the day that’s coming, a graduation that’s coming. We can celebrate a move in date. Hey, I got a new house. I’m going to move in, or I’m going to college and I’m going to move into my dorm. We can celebrate those days to come. We can celebrate the day of the Rapture, the day of Christ’s return when he comes to bring us all home. Hallelujah.

David  [00:03:00]:

We also saw that rejoicing is an outward expression of joy, something we feel. It’s very. Our emotions come up. It’s very much in the moment. And we saw that. Being glad, though, is an inward, ongoing expression of joy and gratefulness. You know, I had a day like that recently. Conia and I were out driving and she asked me, are you okay? I said, yeah, I’m just very reflective today.

David  [00:03:32]:

I said, everywhere I look, I sense God’s blessing in our life. What a great life we live. What a blessed, blessed life we live. And I just, I’m rejoicing in being glad in it today. And then we discovered that everything, no matter what it is, can become an expression of rejoicing and being glad in the day that the Lord has made. Hallelujah. Today we’re going to drill down into the significance of of the phrase that ends this verse. That’s just a simple little phrase in it.

David  [00:04:16]:

This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Hallelujah. In it reminds us that everything God does is a divine appointment. A divine appointment. God. God’s appointed time. His appointed day.

David  [00:04:40]:

In Hebrew. That phrase in it is just a simple preposition. It means that it points to a specific object. And in this context, it’s pointing to the day the Lord has made. But that word there in the Hebrew can also mean in him, this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in Him. It can mean that also. And so that means it’s pointing to God, who was made the day.

David  [00:05:21]:

And it implies this. In it or in him implies dwelling in the day, living life to the full. You’re not just laying around, hanging out, waiting to see what happens. You’re actually dwelling, living life to the full in this day. It also means experiencing or immersing oneself in the context of the day. What’s coming, what’s happening, what are we seeing. And just immersing ourselves in the the day, being intentional about living in this day and experiencing it. And the third thing it implies is being present.

David  [00:06:08]:

We’re here, we’re paying attention. Being present with the one we are focusing on. We’re rejoicing in this day that the Lord has made and rejoicing and being glad in it, the day. But we’re also rejoicing and being glad in him, the Lord our God, and being very present, being very aware of him being in this day and the opportunities and possibilities and blessings he’s placed in this day and how we might walk in them and maximize them for his kingdom and for his glory. The phrase in it points back to this day the Lord has made. It’s a day God has sovereignly ordained, designed and set apart. It’s not just any day. It’s a day that carries divine purpose.

David  [00:07:16]:

It’s a day that carries divine provision, meaning and potential. Think about that. God just didn’t make the first day and go, okay, let there be days now. Let’s just see what happens. No, he had purpose, intention. He had meaning. Like I said a moment ago, he placed opportunity and possibilities and potential within each and every day we live. And rejoicing and gladness are just not abstract emotions.

David  [00:07:59]:

But they are rooted in the context of this day. They are rooted in it. This is the day that the Lord has made. Wow. Think about that. Just stop for a moment and think about that. God made this day for a reason. He put you here in this day.

David  [00:08:28]:

And I’m going to talk about that a little more in a moment. But he put you here in this day for a reason. A purpose. God has an intention, a purpose. He’s got a blessing this day. Hallelujah. Today is the day that the Lord has made. Hallelujah.

David  [00:08:56]:

Our response should be this. I will rejoice in it. Because he is in it. And it is a day given to us from Him. Today is given to us from Him. He is in it. We are in it together. Hallelujah.

David  [00:09:20]:

Hallelujah. And his blessings are flowing from it to us. This is also an invitation for us to join the Lord in this day. He’s going. Come on. Come with me. Come experience the adventure of this day with me. See it from my perspective.

David  [00:09:45]:

Acts 17:26 New King James Version it says this and he has made from one one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings. You’re not just where you are by accident. You’re not just living here by accident in this time. You are here for such a time as this. For such a time as this. That word pre appointed times could be translated days. Pre appointed days so it could read like this. God has determined your pre appointed days and the boundaries of your dwellings here on the earth.

David  [00:10:58]:

In other words, God has prepared and positioned you for this day. Right now he has a purpose for you, a plan for you, a place for you in this day. Think about that. Hallelujah. Every day when you get up, you get out of bed, you rise. Whether you’re feeling good or not, whether you’re sleepy or awake, it’s still a day that God has made with you in mind. And he has a purpose for this day for you in this day. A plan for you, a place for you in this day.

David  [00:11:39]:

So just start off the day rejoicing and being glad. Hallelujah. I was talking with a friend of mine recently and he was sharing with me one of the ways that Smith Wigglesworth would get up and start each day. He’d get up and go dance for 10 minutes before, whether he felt like it or not, he would just go and rejoice in the Lord and Dad, dance before the Lord. I can imagine that by the time he got through with that, he was ready. He was feeling it right? And you ought to try that sometimes. Praise God. Just get up praising God.

David  [00:12:18]:

Hallelujah. And so this is the day. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. This is God’s appointed day, and you are God’s appointed person to be here in this day.

David  [00:12:40]:

Thank you, Jesus. The second thing in a calls us to is present moment faithfulness. God’s present moment faithfulness. We will rejoice and be glad in it. So we see God’s present moment faithfulness in it because he’s prepared this day. But our present moment faithfulness comes through and is seen as we rejoice and we’re glad in this day. We’re not rejoicing after the day is over. That’s okay, you can do that too.

David  [00:13:22]:

But we start the day rejoicing, being glad in it. We’re not rejoicing today just when it’s easy to do it, but we’re rejoicing in it while we’re in the middle of it, no matter what we’re seeing, no matter what we’re facing, no matter what we’re going through. Our friend Jackie Liston, he’s been here and shared before with us. He’s got a book, we’ve talked about it before called A Place Called Through. And it’s a testimony of how God worked in his life and a really hard time. But he kept choosing to rejoice in the Lord and trust him. And God brought him through it all. As the Andre Crouch song said, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus.

David  [00:14:21]:

I’ve learned to trust in the Lord. Hallelujah. A place called through. Every day we’re going through, we’re going through that place. And no matter what’s going on, it may be a great time. We’re rejoicing in it. It’s a cool day. We’re having fun.

David  [00:14:42]:

Or it could be a day of. Of struggle, a challenge of not feeling as great as I did yesterday. But even in all of that, we can rejoice and be glad. And that’s a part of our faithfulness to our Father God going. We recognize, Lord, that you are in this day. So even though I’m facing this tribulation or this hard Time. I’m still rejoicing and being glad in this day because I realize, Lord, that you’re here with me. Hallelujah.

David  [00:15:21]:

To rejoice in it means we choose to rejoice. It’s a choice. It’s not just an emotional reaction. Rejoicing and being glad in it means we make a choice to rejoice in the day itself. And like I said before, not necessarily because of what happens during the day. We want to rejoice and be glad in what happens during the day, but we choose to rejoice and be glad in it just because we know God made this day for me and he placed me here for a reason. Think about this. Whether the day holds joy or pain, success or struggle, we can choose to rejoice in it.

David  [00:16:13]:

Why? Because it’s a day God has made and given us. Every day we get up is a gift. It’s a gift of life to us, a gift of God’s love to us. Hallelujah. Enter every day thanking God for the gift of this day. Hallelujah. This shifts our joy and our perspective from being circumstantial to being based on God’s Word. We’re just not looking for the blessings or the good things in the day.

David  [00:16:53]:

We’re recognizing God’s Word in this and acknowledging him. God’s Word and his faithfulness sustains us. It’s not our feelings. It’s not our feelings. He sustains us. His goodness, his faithfulness. Rejoicing becomes an act of faith and honors God in every season. Good or bad.

David  [00:17:38]:

Good or bad. Remember, Jesus said, you’re going to have tribulation in this life, but rejoice. Think about that. If you stop, right, Lord, what are you saying? Rejoice because I’m having tribulation. He said, no. Rejoice because I have overcome the world. So if you walk with me and trust in me and know I’m there with you, you’re going to overcome, too. There’s a way through.

David  [00:18:07]:

As Jackie says in this book, God always has a way through whatever you’re facing. Hallelujah. Thank you, Lord. Hallelujah. Now think about this inside. Every day, you are there. And you’re helping make the day. Think about that.

David  [00:18:32]:

You’re making the day for yourself, for all those around you. The people you influence, work with. How? Think about it. The people you come into contact with. You are making the day in so many ways. So let’s choose to rejoice and be glad in this day. I’m bringing Brother Jackie. Listen up a lot.

David  [00:18:59]:

But I love what Jackie does. Somebody ask him, well, hello, sir. How are you doing today? And he goes, I’m grateful. How about you? That catches everybody off guard, you know. Yeah, you know. But it’s true. He is. No matter what he’s going through, what he’s facing, he comes with a grateful heart.

David  [00:19:25]:

Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Get up. Being grateful Whoever you are with, bump into, run into. Be grateful. Show them joy. When you come with gratefulness, it encourages the joy within you, regardless of the circumstances you’re facing.

David  [00:19:56]:

Joy is not simply a reaction. Joy in the Lord is a decision to trust God’s presence and plan. In this day, I can be joyful in this day. I may not know how things are going to turn out, what’s going to show up, what’s going to happen, but I can still be joyful and grateful in this day. Trust God in it we are called as believers and children of God to rejoice, not just when conditions are ideal, but in the day itself in it. Because it is God’s appointed time. It’s God’s appointed time filled with God’s purpose and his presence. God’s presence is here right now.

David  [00:20:59]:

He’s all around us, everywhere we go. God is there. He’s with us. He never leaves us, never forsakes us. He is always there. And so we need to approach every day knowing this. I don’t need a perfect day to rejoice. I simply need to recognize that today is a day God gave me.

David  [00:21:24]:

He is here with me in this day, and he’ll be with me every day as we go through this adventure of life together. Hallelujah. Philippians 4:4 in the Amplified classic says this. Rejoice in the Lord always. No matter what’s going on, always rejoice in the Lord. Delight. Gladden yourselves in him. Again I say rejoice.

David  [00:21:57]:

Paul says, if you didn’t get it the first time, let me say it again. Rejoice always. Psalm 37:4,5 in the amplified classic says this. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord. Roll and repose each care of your load on him. Trust, lean on, rely on, and be confident also in him, and he will bring it to pass. He will make it happen.

David  [00:22:44]:

Rejoice in the Lord. Hallelujah. He is in this day with you, so let’s rejoice in him always. The third thing I want us to see here is this, and it points to the day of salvation in a broader context, Psalm 118. And we’re going to look at verses 22 through 26, talk about the day prophetically. And this refers to the coming of the Messiah and his work of salvation. And so what we see here, what the psalmist also is talking about here, is rejoice in this. This is the day of salvation that the Lord has made.

David  [00:23:43]:

Rejoice and be glad in it. Hallelujah. As believers today, we are living in the day of salvation, which was secured by Christ, resurrection from the dead after he had died on the cross. We are living in it right now. What they were talking about prophetically in this psalm, we are living in every day in this prophetic sense. In it refers to the day of salvation, or the decisive moment of God’s redemptive work, which was realized in Jesus Christ when he was crucified on the cross, gave Himself up as a sacrifice for all mankind, went and won the victory over death, hell and the grave, and arose victorious with all power and all authority. Hallelujah. And then all of us who believe in him and have been saved, he delegates and gives us all that power and authority so we can go and represent him here in the earth.

David  [00:24:57]:

He said, you’re going to do what I’ve done, and even greater things than these, because I go to my Father. But the Holy Spirit is coming, the one who will empower you. Hallelujah. Believe for greater things than these. Believe for miracles to come, and they will. Hallelujah. Isaiah 25, 9 in the New King James Version says, and it will be said in that day. It’s talking about today, and it will be said in that day.

David  [00:25:34]:

Behold, this is our God. We have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the Lord. We have waited for him. We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. If nothing else, we should get up and be glad and be rejoicing in the Lord every day for his salvation that he bought and paid for for us so we could have life eternal. We’re saved, sanctified, redeemed. Hallelujah.

David  [00:26:07]:

Hallelujah. So what we see is this little phrase, two word phrase. In it is a powerful, powerful phrase. We will rejoice and be glad in this saving act of God in this moment he’s made possible today. Anyone who comes today, ask the Lord to forgive them and receive him as their Lord. Boom. They’re saved, they’re redeemed. They’re a part of the family of God.

David  [00:26:44]:

They have life eternal. It never ends. Hallelujah. Glory to God. Glory to God. We rejoice and are glad in this because we live in the reality of redemption every day. Think about that. You are living in the reality of redemption every day.

David  [00:27:10]:

Don’t let the enemy tell you you’re not worth it. Don’t let him tell you you’re not good enough. You are the redeemed of the Lord. And you are living and walking in the reality of that redemption today. And everything Christ bought and paid for through his death, burial and resurrection, the shedding of his stripes on his back is yours. You just need to get up every day standing on the Word and say, this is it. It’s all mine. In Christ, I am a new creation.

David  [00:27:46]:

In Christ, I have it all. I am blessed beyond measure. God has made a way for me. I am more than a conqueror. I overcome today. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. 2nd Corinthians 6:2 in the NIV says, For he says, in the time of my favor, I heard you.

David  [00:28:12]:

And in the day of salvation, I helped you. I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor. Now is the day of salvation. You’re walking in it. You’re living in it. God’s favor surrounds you is with a shield. The Word says, you have all of his favor. You have all that the day of salvation brought for you.

David  [00:28:40]:

You’re walking in it today. So rejoice and be glad in it. This phrase in it reminds us that joy is not postponed. Postponed until things get better. Rejoice and be glad in the storm. There’s a storm going. Rejoice and be glad. Thank you, Father.

David  [00:29:06]:

We’re going to get through this. We’re going to make it. We’re going to come out the other side victorious, praising you and rejoicing. Reminds me, I’ve shared this with you before, but something they discovered out on the plains. When a thunderstorm is coming, cows will turn and run into it or run away from it. I’m sorry. Cows will turn and try to outrun it, get away from it. And so they end up spending longer in the rain than the buffalo do.

David  [00:29:45]:

So why is that? When a thunderstorm is coming, the buffalo turn and run headlong into it. And because they’re running into it and the storm is passing over them, they spend less time in the rain than the cows do. God is saying, come on, I know it’s raining, but come run with me. Let’s run through this. Going back to Jackie’s book, A Place called Through, God gets us through it all as we Rejoice and are glad in him. And in this day. So let’s get up every day we are called to rejoice and be glad within the very day we are given today. If you haven’t done it yet, start rejoicing and being glad, because today is God’s day that he has given you and me.

David  [00:30:42]:

And he is here present with us and working in us and through us, with us and for us in it, in this day. Hallelujah. Get up every day and rejoice and be glad in it, for the Lord hath given you today. Let’s bow our heads in prayer. Father, we thank you for this time together. We thank you for seeing, Father God, that rejoicing and being glad in the day in it. Rejoicing and being glad in you, Lord, is not just an emotional response based on circumstances, but. But it’s a choice we make.

David  [00:31:33]:

It’s a heartfelt choice we make because we know your goodness, your mercy, your grace, your faithfulness. And you are always faithful to us and to your word, to us, and we thank you for it. Father, I pray that you give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand every opportunity, every possibility, every blessing you’ve placed in this day and every day to come that we may recognize them and maximize them for your glory, for your kingdom. Father, we set our hearts today and declare, this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Amen. I encourage you to get up every day from now on and do that. Praise God.

David  [00:32:32]:

Pastor Conia is coming with a closing thought and a prayer. God bless you. Have a great week.
